| A word from the Artist: I still recall the gently fragrant row of peonies-alternating white and pink ones-which grew between our front yard and our neighbor's, growing up in the Midwest. It was the only dividing line between our yards. I remember hiding behind them, running between them, sheltering dolls under them and picking some for my Mother on her birthday or Mother's Day, as they were conveniently at their finest at those times. I adore the smell and look of them, as they bring back such sweet memories. I studied them, informally, for sixteen years as they came up out of the soil in the spring and rose to full blossom in May, hung on green and tough during the summer and got their annual chop come fall by our neighbor ("Mr. D") who technically owned them. Thanks "Mr. D" for keeping such a lovely yard all those years, and for putting up with all us active kids. |
